##Where do I get Better Eq?
Legend's equipment system is unique as compared to how most other MUDs equipment systems work.
As a new character, you are given some very basic equipment to start. It is not great but will suffice for
the first few levels. After that, you are going to want to get an upgrade. Most of the equipment you find
on lower level mobs, will generally not be worth keeping, but they might gain you a little gold if you
can find somewhere to sell them.
####Using the Inspect Command
Equipment is the major way to increase your stats to learn the skills you want. This is not intuitive, and not
all equipment has stats. The easiest way in-game to see if equipment has stats is to learn the appraise skill.
Then when you INSPECT <item> it will tell you any stats the item may have, as well as some other information
about the item. The item must either be in your inventory, equipped or on the ground of the room you are in.
Inspect is useful for information like what it's made of, how much it costs to rent it, and what a generous shopkeeper
mob might pay you for it. If you are a mage, then the Identify Object spell will give you the same information with no
need for the appraise skill.

####Inn Boxes
As a new player, there are a few options for gaining statted equipment. One of the primary places to look first is in the
Inns. Each inn has a donation box. Often players will leave unwanted, statted eq in the boxes at inns for new characters.
Anything in there is free for you to take and keep, however you cannot sell it to mob shopkeepers.
For example:

To see what is in the box LOOK IN BOX (an alternate keyword that can be used is LOST)
💡 Quick Tip: you can use LOOK IN or EXAMINE to see the contents of containers.

The actual contents of the box will vary, based on what other players have placed in it. After a
reboot, the boxes will all be empty.

####Shops and Player Shops
Another option for gaining equipment is through shops, though not all equipment sold by mob
shopkeepers is statted, and it can be difficult to know which is and isn't. There are mob shopkeepers
around the game that buy equipment and often players will sell to them when money-running. You
can always look up items in the items section of Legendhub to see if interesting looking items might be
something you want. This is a more expensive option for new players, but once you've learned the
game a bit and have some gold to your name it can be a good way to get equipment. There are also
player-run shops that sometimes have equipment for sale. These again tend to be more expensive, but
are an option to remember for the future.

####Auction Channel
Finally, your best bet for getting equipment on your first character is to just ask for help. Legend has an
AUCTION channel where you can ask for equipment. If you let people know this is your first character,
they will in all likelihood give you help for little to no cost.
Generally, if you're looking to buy a piece of equipment, you would AUCT WTB: a newbie sword! (you can
replace "a newbie sword" with whatever item you are looking for). Once somebody has decided to sell you an
item, and it is up on the auction channel, you may BID for it. If it is the first bit, you may simply type BID
but if someone else bids a higher amount, you must type BID <amount>.
Here is an example of the messages you see when using the Auction channel.
In this example, the player, Seventyone, is selling a gold-plated sextant to the other player, Florrie.
