Wandering around ancient Roman Britain you may come across a battle-scarred legionary who will say to you 'My decurion's gonna have my hide if I show up for inspection with this broken pilum' , 'any chance you can help me out?'. Ask the battle-scarred legionary 'yes', he will then remove his broken pilum (javelin) and give it to you saying: 'Now remember, I need that back before inspection! Or I'll REALLY be in trouble.'. Find another legionary, kill them, and retrieve an undamaged pilum from the corpse, take it to the battle-scarred legionary and give it to him. This may also work by simply repairing the damaged pilum and returning it to the battle-scarred legionary. After you give the undamaged/repaired pilum to him he beams at you and wields it before saying 'It's like new! Thank you! Now I won't have trench duty for a month.'.
